Document what an order requires
Identify the minimum contact, address and delivery information needed for each order type. Guest and account-based purchasing should be deliberate choices. Do not add questions simply because a form builder supports them; every field needs a purpose in payment, fulfillment or an agreed customer process.
Keep costs and conditions understandable
Shipping, applicable tax and other charges must follow the business’s configured rules and be presented before final confirmation. A delivery quote requirement should not appear only after a customer has paid. Clarify subscription or made-to-order terms where relevant using approved commercial language.
Make validation actionable
Use visible labels and error messages that identify the field and how to correct it. Preserve other entered information when an error occurs. Keyboard users need a logical focus path and visible focus. Avoid treating a marketing checkbox as a requirement to buy unless the business has a legitimate, approved basis for that condition.
Test confirmation and failure safely
Provider-supported payment tests should cover success, decline, interruption and repeated actions. Confirm who receives the order and how duplicates are prevented. A button click is not a completed purchase. Do not send payment details or contact fields to analytics, and distinguish an attempted checkout from a provider-confirmed order.
