Pacific Hospice & Palliative Care
Locally owned and operated Medicare-certified hospice in San Antonio, TX. The site communicates compassion and clinical credibility, covers all four levels of hospice care, and provides 24/7 contact access for families and referral partners.
The Challenge
Pacific Hospice needed to establish a credible digital presence that could compete with larger regional hospice organizations while communicating the personal, locally-owned character that differentiates them. Families searching for hospice care are in a vulnerable moment — the site had to be clear, reassuring and easy to navigate under stress.
Ferdinand's Role
Ferdinand handled the full project scope: healthcare-specific design strategy, visual design, development, content architecture, and launch. The site was built to serve two distinct audiences — families seeking care and healthcare professionals making referrals — with clear pathways for each.
Scope Delivered
Design & Content Architecture
- Healthcare-specific visual design and brand expression
- Dual-audience content architecture (families and referral partners)
- All four levels of hospice care clearly explained
- 24/7 contact access prominently featured throughout
Development & Launch
- Custom website development
- Mobile-optimized layout for all devices
- Referral pathway and contact forms
- Domain configuration and launch support
Design & Technical Decisions
- The design balances clinical authority with genuine warmth — a combination that is difficult to achieve in healthcare but essential for hospice, where families need to feel both informed and supported.
- All four levels of hospice care (routine home care, continuous home care, inpatient respite care, and general inpatient care) are clearly explained in plain language, reducing the information gap that families often face.
- 24/7 contact access is featured prominently on every page — hospice inquiries do not follow business hours, and the site reflects that.
- The locally-owned story is woven throughout the site to build trust with families who are choosing between a locally-owned provider and larger regional organizations.
- Referral pathways for healthcare professionals are distinct from family-facing content, so each audience finds what they need without friction.
Outcome
Pacific Hospice launched with a site that accurately represents their clinical capabilities and locally-owned character. The site provides a professional digital presence that serves both families and referral partners, and gives the organization a foundation to compete with larger regional hospice providers.

What to Discuss for Your Project
- What information do families and referral partners need separately?
- How should visitors find your services and the appropriate contact pathway?
- Does your project need public information only, or separately scoped referral workflows?
