Business owners setting a website budget
How Much Does a Business Website Cost?
A useful website budget starts with the job your site needs to do. Use the calculator below to compare published LBYS starting prices with your own recurring-cost estimates, then keep a CSV or printed copy. The editable worksheet helps you record scope, responsibilities and questions for a proposal.

PLAN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS
Your first-year website budget
Start with a published build price, then add your own provider estimates. Leave a cost blank if you do not know it yet; enter 0 only when no charge is expected. All amounts are in US dollars, before tax.
One-time known subtotal $2,500.00; 4 costs not estimated. Monthly known subtotal $2,388.00; 3 costs not estimated. Before tax.
Professional Business Website
Known first-year subtotal
$2,500.00
Excludes 4 amounts still to estimate.
$2,500.00 starting build + your one-time costs + 12 months of hosting, care and tools + annual costs.
Business Launch reference
In preparation · availability inquiry
Known first-year subtotal
$2,388.00
Excludes 3 amounts still to estimate.
12 payments of $199.00 ($2,388.00) + $0.00 setup + your external one-time, email/tool and annual costs.
Compare the scope as well as the total. Business Launch covers up to five primary informational pages with managed hosting and defined care. It excludes ecommerce, custom systems, backups and uptime monitoring. A ten-page site needs a different scope. Extra costs entered here do not add features to either package or create a quote.
Both columns use the same external-cost assumptions for comparison. Adjust them when comparing different requirements. These are first-year amounts, not lifetime costs; see each proposal’s renewal, ownership and support terms.

What changes the scope
Two pages can require very different effort. A straightforward service page using approved copy differs from a complex product catalog or a connected intake workflow. Identify page complexity, content readiness, required integrations, migration and ecommerce before comparing prices.
An existing site also brings URL preservation, redirect planning and content review. A new site needs a structure and content plan. Ask whether the proposal includes writing, photography, licensed assets or only organizing material you supply.
Three illustrative project scopes
Example 1: an existing business site with six primary pages, prepared content and a visual/mobile upgrade is a Website Refresh discussion. Example 2: a new professional-services site with ten pages, organized service content and lead-generation forms is a Professional Business Website discussion. Example 3: a broader site with conversion-focused pages, multi-step forms and workflow requirements is a Website Growth System discussion.
These examples illustrate the package descriptions; they are not customer quotes or approval of specific integrations. Page count alone does not settle the final scope. Account portals, ecommerce and advanced connections may need separately priced work.
Inclusions, exclusions and recurring responsibility
The current package inclusions are shown below. Enhancements such as copywriting assistance, ecommerce, portals and advanced integrations should be identified explicitly in a proposal; confirm additional features in your proposal.
Budget separately for ongoing services you retain: domain renewal, hosting, business email, licensed services and agreed maintenance. The proposal should identify who pays each provider and what support is included. Monthly maintenance plans are distinct from the one-time build; consult the current packages page for their scope and starting rates.
Before accepting an estimate
- Confirm the page list and the actual functions on each page.
- Identify who prepares, reviews and owns content and assets.
- List migrations, redirects, integrations and any paid third-party services.
- Ask what revisions, testing, launch and post-launch support are included.
- Separate one-time work from recurring charges and optional enhancements.
- Get the final scope and price in a written proposal.
